Life in Denver
Denver offers one of the highest qualities of life in the country. When you
live here, you can enjoy sunny weather, excellent dining, and a lively downtown
area. Read more about the lifestyle that awaits you in Denver.

Pleasant Weather
Denver receives more than 300 days of sunshine each year. That's more
annual hours of sun than either San Diego or Miami Beach! Expecting to be
snowed in? Denver averages just 14 inches of precipitation in an entire year
— about what Los Angeles gets. Denver and the Colorado front range enjoy
some of the best and most diverse weather in the United States. Nowhere else
can you ski, golf, snowmobile, and bike — all in the same day.
Recreation
Half of Colorado land is dedicated to public recreation. Colorado
has two national parks, six national monuments, 11 national forests, three
national recreation areas and 30 state parks. In Denver you will find the
largest city park system in the nation: 205 parks within the city limits and
20,000 acres of parks in the nearby mountains. The mountainous area of Colorado
is six times the size of Switzerland and contains 9,600 miles (15,449 km)
of fishing streams, 2,850 lakes, and more than 1,000 peaks that reach two
miles (3,218 km) high.
With
Denver's year-round mild weather, Denverites lead healthier lifestyles and
participate in many outdoor sports and activities. Denver residents are the
thinnest of any U.S. city. You can be active in any of the city's hundreds
of parks, pools, ball fields, skateboard parks, tennis courts, and more than
70 golf courses.
The nearby foothills and citywide parks offer some of the finest
mountain biking anywhere, and those outside the Denver area are accessible
within 1-2 hours by car. Many ski resorts convert operations in the summer
months to take mountain bikers up ski lifts so the can ride down the miles
of trails.
Refined Culture
Denver citizens contribute more public funding for the arts
per capita than any other U.S. city, and the results show. The Colorado Symphony
Orchestra, Tony Award-winning Denver Center Theatre, the Denver Art Museum,
fabulous dining and a bustling nightlife provide all the cultural opportunity
you would expect in a big city. Denver has the nation's second largest performing
arts center: the Denver Performing Arts Complex includes eight theaters that
can seat more than 9,000 people.
Championship Sports Teams
Denverites love their two championship teams: the two-time Super
Bowl Champion Denver Broncos, and the two-time Stanley Cup winning Colorado
Avalanche. Between the Colorado Rockies (MLB), the Colorado Rapids (MLS),
the Denver Nuggets (NBA), the Colorado Mammoth (NLL) and of course the CU
Buffs, there is always a good sports ticket to be had.
