FMMD 8002 Sub-Internship Course

The Family Medicine Sub-Internship is an elective course designed to allow fourth-year medical students to experience the daily practice of clinical Family Medicine through the care of patients in the inpatient setting under the guidance of Family Medicine residents and attending physicians at the Anschutz Inpatient Pavilion at the Anschutz Medical Campus.

The inpatient portion of the Sub-I includes adult, obstetrics and newborn care on the Family Medicine Service at the Anschutz In-Patient Pavilion at University of Colorado’s Anschutz Medical Campus. This experience is intended to allow you to function as an intern on the Family Medicine Service and work with our highly experienced faculty in the care of a diverse group of patients. Night call is required.

The Family Medicine Inpatient Service is staffed by Family Medicine faculty hospitalists as well as a team of one to three residents. As a student, you will be given patient care responsibilities and at times will work directly with the hospitalists. During the sub-internship, mini lectures are presented by residents and attending physicians.
